Different Ways to Sell Your Products Through an Agent
Are you a supplier that want to sell your products through an agent? Or are you a sales agent and want to sell products from a supplier that is using Bilberry Base?
There are four ways to do this efficiently in Bilberry. All bookings, commissions, product selection, and other terms are agreed upon and tracked directly in Bilberry. Reports are available for both supplier and agent.
To be able to sell a suppliers products as an agent, the supplier will need to add you as an agent within their Bilberry Base account.
Agent API
The Agent API is best suited for larger agents looking to integrate directly with a supplier’s availability from their own booking systems.
With this integration, agents can access product catalogs, check availability, and create reservations through the API. Each booking is linked to the agent using dedicated tokens, ensuring proper tracking within Bilberry. Invoicing is handled through consolidated invoices from the supplier, based on the agreed terms.
Please use the Agent API Documentation to learn more about this and get connected.
Agent Login
As a supplier, you can grant collaborative agents access to sell your products by providing them with a login to your Bilberry instance. Using their agent login, they can manually book tours through the portal, where the . Agents can only book the specific products you’ve made available to them, allowing you to tailor access per agent.
The displayed prices reflect the agent's commission, which is deducted and shown in the order list.
Agents receive payments directly from customers, and you invoice them based on the reported bookings and agreed commission terms. Agents will be invoiced through a consolidated invoice, as per the mutual agreement between supplier and agent.
Using referral links
Referral links are ready-to-use links where the agent can buy direct form the supplier through the link. A referral link includes the agent’s referral code using the bref
query parameter in the URL.
Example: https://www.bilberry-tours.no?bref=abc123
Any purchase made through this link will be registered on the agent, as long as the product is marked as sellable in their agent settings in Base. Agents can use this link to make bookings themselves, or share it on their own website. The referralCode
is automatically applied so that the sale is linked to the agent.
You can use the bref
query parameter on any link that leads to a Bilberry widget with a checkout, such as:
1️⃣ Referral link on web site
Example: https://nadiradventure.com/?bref=Xr1bMmwPRx
2️⃣ Micro store
Example: https://zenith.bilberry.app/web/products/3/calendar?bref=Xr1bMmwPRx
3️⃣ Product collection
Example: https://zenith.bilberry.app/storefront/collections/2?bref=Xr1bMmwPRx
To use this it is important that the url contains the agents referral code and the product that is being booked is added to the agent card in Base. The commission will be registered on the agent as long as the url it is booking from ends with the agents referral code (?bref=Xr1bMmwPRx).
Good to know
The referral code is stored for 14 days by default, even if the customer navigates away from the original page. If the user arrives on the site with the bref
in place a few days later, the duration will be extended.
It is possible to change this duration by adjusting the base configuration in your Bilberry setup (but not in the micro store).
If a user visits the site with a different bref
code later, the new one will replace the previous code.
Specific Product Links
Agents can promote your products using unique links generated from the suppliers Bilberry instance, which direct customers to a micro-store for direct purchase. In this setup, customers pay upfront via online payment, and the funds go directly to the suppliers Bilberry account.
The commission is registered on the agent as long as the url where the booking is done ends with the agents referral code. The supplier can track orders and owed commissions through the platform. Agents will be invoiced through a consolidated invoice, as per the mutual agreement between supplier and agent.
With this collaboration method, the agent needs a portal login to view the amounts owed, as mentioned in the first section of this article.
Bilberry Widgets on Agents Website
Agents have the option to embed the suppliers Bilberry widgets on their websites, displaying real time product information, images, shopping carts, and booking options. These widgets are customizable and include the agent's affiliate code (referral ID).
The money go directly to the supplier, and the agent will have to invoice the supplier for the commission agreed on through a consolidated invoice, as per the mutual agreement between supplier and agent. There is no need for the supplier and the agent to communicate when bookings are done, unless there are some internal routines that says you have to.
With this collaboration method, the agent needs a portal login to view the amounts owed, as mentioned in the first section of this article.
